Why Is Photography So Expensive?

Keep in mind, when pricing out a photographer, that shooting the pictures is only about 1/4 of the work involved in making your memories special. There is a lot of other "behind the scenes" work that a client never sees, such as culling through the many photographs that are taken, organizing the images, general processing and editing of each photo, special touch ups, processing, and special treatments of photographer or client picks, preparing images for transfer to CD or DVD for the client, and then preparing them to be uploaded into an online gallery that can be shared with family and friends.  

Generally for every hour a photographer spends shooting your session or event, there are another three hours involved in processing and behind the scenes work. So, if your photographer is spending two hours on a shoot with you, they are really spending up to eight hours (or more) total on your job! If a photographer is shooting a session for a rock bottom, budget price, I would question how much time they are really putting in to the backend work involved in making your photographic memories as beautiful as they can be!

Can I See My Pictures Online?

Proofs from your photo session will be made available in a private, password protected, online gallery for you to review within approximately 7-10 days of session. This is YOUR gallery and you are free to share it with family and friends. We can password protect it for you, if you like, or we can leave it open. Galleries will be available for 90 days, for you to review, share online, and make picks for final prints.

We will also post some "photographer's picks" as sneak peeks on our Blog, Facebook page, and website, so you can start to see, and share, some of your images, before the final gallery is ready to preview.

Why Do You Require a Retainer Fee?

A retainer fee is required to hold the date for your photo shoot. When we book a photography session or wedding, we are making that date, or time, no longer available to other perspective clients. If we don't collect a retainer fee and our client back out at the last minute, we have lost revenue from other jobs we could have taken on that date or at that time.

A 50% non-refundable retainer on your photography session must be prepaid by check, PayPal (for Visa or MasterCard), money order, or cash to reserve your session date, and the balance must be paid by or on the day of the shoot. All session fees are non-refundable after shoot has been completed.

"No shows" on the day of the session will NOT receive a refund of their session fee and will need to reschedule with a new session fee. If they fail to show for the second session, the retainer will be forfeited to me and a new retainer will need to be paid to book me a third time. 

Please understand that I have slotted a time for your session and when you don't show up, that is a time that could have been used for another client's session, so it costs me money and time, in the event that you don't show up.

I do understand that at times things come up,so should you need to reschedule a session due to unforeseeable circumstances, please try to give me 48 hours notice, so I can reassign your slot to another photography client. A phone call to reschedule, such as this, is not considered a "no show," since you have given me the courtesy of 48 hours to rearrange my schedule.

Should the day of the session come with bad weather, or less than ideal shooting conditions (misting, extremely overcast, too cold or too hot, etc.), we will reschedule at your convenience.
